Failure is Not an Option
I have checked many, many times, and can now confirm that I have never been accused of being the sharpest ax in the shed.
When Dr. Watson said I could ride indoors, swim etc. I took him at his word, and I did. What I didn't realize was that my body was not ready to jump back into it, like I wanted to, 3 weeks post surgery. Oh well. This time, I have learned though. After 3 weeks of 5 days per week, cycling & swimming, the body & joints sent me a telegram, and said: "STOP, GIVE US A BREAK WILL YA, YOU'RE KILLING US?"
Unfortunately, the telegram was written in "body language" get it? and I could not translate it. So I plugged on, day after day. Then it hit me! A wise man once said " If you find yourself in a hole, quit digging". So this week, I did just that, took three days off , rested, and guess what, I feel better. I also think I look more like Tom Cruise everyday!
Back on the bike a couple of times this week, and looking forward to a swim tomorrow with my friends: The Badger & his wife Ms. Karen. Supposedly Ms. Karen can swim like a fish,
so The Badger & I will flail along like we always do, and get a workout in.
I still have high hopes & dreams of normalcy I guess, and the sooner the better. I like to think that I can crush all recovery records (if there is such a thing) and leap tall buildings in a single bound.
Eminem sang in a song that "I can't be your superman".
He also sang in another song that "failure is not an option".
I like the verse from the second song better.
